Health Optimization & Wellness makes it easy to evaluate the health-promoting aspects of sleep to help doctors take a comprehensive view towards sleep care for their patients.
The sleep assessment ring we use is an FDA-cleared Apnea Hypopnea Index (AHI) device, comparable to an AHI from polysomnography (PSG) with just a single point of contact. But it does more than that; it's a clinical tool that analyzes the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) during sleep, which has a two-way relationship with sleep/wake control. The ANS is key to maintaining the body's balance, achieved through coordination of heart rate variability and breathing, which are the core components of Cardiopulmonary Coupling (CPC), the technique behind our sleep ring. This ring is a diagnostic and management tool that tracks sleep quality and sleep apnea. Clinical research shows this combined method helps manage blood pressure and other cardiovascular and cardiometabolic markers, along with treating sleep apnea as measured by the AHI.
The ANS not only manages the two-way relationship with sleep and wake control, but it also identifies NREM sleep as either Stable or Unstable based on the interaction between heart rate variability and breathing rate variability.
Our sleep assessment ring output puts sleep back into sleep medicine to expand patient care beyond the AHI.
Besides diagnosing obstructive and central sleep apnea, our sleep assessment ring can evaluate other sleep disorders, offering valuable clinical info for assessing insomnia and possibly other issues like movement disorders. Autonomic dysfunction and sleep patterns influence each other. For example, insomnia can boost sympathetic activation and disrupt sleep, raising the risk for cardiovascular stress and poor blood pressure control, even without sleep apnea. Another example is periodicity, which signals a higher risk of negative cardiovascular outcomes.
Experiencing daytime tiredness can often be linked to underlying sleep disorders that go undiagnosed and untreated. By opting for a Home Sleep Assessment, you can uncover the root causes of your fatigue and take necessary steps to address them.
Snoring and sleep apnea are common sleep disorders that can significantly impact your quality of life and overall health. Our Home Sleep Study Test is specifically designed to detect these conditions by monitoring your breathing patterns, oxygen levels, and other critical indicators while you sleep.
Our team of healthcare providers consists of board-certified physicians, nurses, and support staff who are committed to providing exceptional care to our patients. We ensure that our providers stay up-to-date with the latest medical advancements and techniques.
